The Armed Forced Week is a national event to honour the Armed Forced community from 21 to 29 June.
It is a chance to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving personnel to Service families, veterans and cadets.
The week also includes Reserves Day, happening on Wednesday, 25 June, which provides the country with an opportunity to recognise Reserve Forces.
The celebrations end with Armed Forces Day, happening annually on the last Saturday of June where public show their support and appreciation for the Armed Forces community.
As a signee of the Armed Forces Covenant, GBCC will feature content from members and exclusive interviews with current and former military personnel to highlight ways that businesses can get involved in supporting the Armed Forces.
Interviewees include Member of Parliament for Solihull West and Shirley and Ex Army Medical Officer Neil Shastri-Hurst, founder of The Listening Centre and former Royal Air Force service member Sharon McCormick, Minister for Veterans Al Carns, and more influential business figures in Greater Birmingham.
The Armed Forces Covenant was introduced by the Ministry of Defence in 2014 and is used across the country for businesses to pledge their support to the armed forces family.
Organisations who hold a Covenant recognise the value serving personnel - both regular and reserve - veterans and military families contribute to their business and the country.
The Chamber is proud to support the work of the forces through our relationship with members West Midland Reserve Forces and Cadets Association.
Speaking about the Armed Forces Week, GBCC acting deputy CEO Raj Kandola said: “As a proud signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant, we recognise the vital role our Armed Forces community plays – not only in protecting the nation but in enriching our workplaces and society.
“Our weeklong campaign is a reflection of that commitment: celebrating the stories, experiences and contributions of those who serve, have served, and their families.
“By signing the Covenant, we’ve pledged to support them in meaningful ways – ensuring they’re treated with fairness, respect and opportunity.
“This Armed Forces Week, we invite everyone to engage with the content we’ve shared and stand with us in recognising the remarkable individuals behind the uniform.”
