Chamber meeting marks firm 's 40 years in Lichfield
As part of the Lichfield and Tamworth Chamber's continued initiative to reach out and connect with member businesses, the executive committee held its latest meeting at cutlery manufacturer Arthur Price in Lichfield.
The meeting was perfectly timed to coincide with the firm's 40th anniversary in the cathedral city, having moved to there in 1982 to be equidistant between its Birmingham and Sheffield manufacturing operations.
What 's more, the family-owned firm is celebrating again this Autumn.
Monday 3 October marks the 120th anniversary since Arthur Price first started making cutlery in his front room in Gem Street, Aston, Birmingham.
In that time, five generations of the Price family have experienced two World Wars and two pandemics, as well as supplying the Royal household, the finest restaurants and hotels and iconic transport like Titanic and Concorde.
Chris Brewerton, divisional director of Lichfield and Tamworth Chamber of Commerce, said: Thanks to Simon and James Price for welcoming us to their business.
“The committee discussed its future plans, comforted by the fact it was surrounded by 120 years of business history.
“It was fascinating to be shown the original minute book from 1902 and, after the recent Platinum Jubilee celebrations, wedding cake sent by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Royal Warrant holders."
