Solihull Chamber of Commerce and the owners of Kington Grange have partnered up to deliver a day where you can visit Kington Grange on Thursday 30 November, from 9am to 11am.

Kingston Grange is a historic manor house set in stunning grounds in Claverdon, just outside Henley in Arden, including a barn, accommodation and even a spring fed natural swimming pool.

Kington Grange land was mentioned in the Domesday Book in 1086 and connected to Bordesley Abbey near Redditch, Worcestershire.

Kington Grange main house was constructed in 16th century and modernised in each century. Reading University have carried out the ‘Bordesley Abbey Project’ and their research suggests Kington Grange was originally surrounded by a moat. In the majority of old maps of Warwickshire, there are usually only about a dozen private properties marked, of which Kington Grange is invariably one.

When Henry VIII ordered the dissolution of the monasteries, Bordesley Abbey was demolished in 1538 and Kington Grange was sold to the Throckmorton family. It later passed through the hands of Sir Henry Gough and Lord Calthorpe. Elements of Bordesley Abbey appear as decoration in the Kington Grange walled garden.

Samantha Frampton, head of Solihull Chamber and Jayne Hume, relationship manager at the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, said: “We had the pleasure of spending a lovely afternoon exploring the house and grounds hosted by owners Phil and Susan and now we would like you experience it too.”

Owners Phil and Susan are looking to further develop the Grange into a unique conference, event and accommodation venue and are looking for connections for inspiration, support and collaboration. They said they are looking for members to come and visit as they are very open to ideas on how the Grange can used by Chamber members.

They would like to connect with:

·        Local fellow hospitability venues for referral / collaboration

·        Businesses looking for a unique, ‘away from it all’ event for a conference / team building events

·        Businesses with the need to host international guests

·        Coaches and consultants needing space for training events

·        Caterers and event planners to become suppliers

·        Brand photographers/Video production companies

·        Creative businesses wanting to host workshops

The visit day will start at 9am with networking and refreshments, followed by tours of the house, barn and grounds from 9:30am to 10:45am, with an 11am finish.

Phil Cliffe, owner of Kington Grange, said: “We moved to Kington Grange in March 2022 after over 20 years in Scotland. We have six children between us and a large extended (Worcestershire) family and wanted a property which would act as a family hub.

“Kington Grange is perfect for this and we fell in love with it on our first viewing. Along with the main house came recently and comprehensively developed outbuildings – a bonus. These are screaming out to be better utilised and we have joined the Chamber of Commerce to test if our barn and spare accommodation can be used for the benefit of local businesses.”
