Burton Chamber patron Growth Partners has revealed that mental health charity Mind is its chosen charity of the year.

Growth Partners, based in Leicester, say that their commitment to supporting Mind is part of the company 's mission to make employers ' and employees ' lives easier, happier and healthier so businesses can thrive.

“We asked our employees to vote for the charity they wanted to be our company charity of the year, and Mind was the overwhelming favourite, ” said Claire Antony, HR partner at Growth Partners.

The news comes as Mind declared a mental health emergency with more people having experienced a mental health crisis than ever previously recorded. With calls to their helpline doubling, fundraising events being cancelled and shops remaining closed, they really need financial support to be able to help people when they need it most.

Claire added: “As an employee engagement company, we recognise the importance of mental health and wellbeing and the impact it can have on employees ' lives. By choosing Mind as our charity, we 're reemphasising our commitment to looking after employees and removing the stigma around mental health - we want everyone to feel able to talk openly about their wellbeing. ”

The team is hitting the ground running with 19 staff members taking part in Mind 's 100 miles in May challenge - walking, running and cycling a total of 1,900 miles between them. With a challenge fundraising target of £1,900, they 're hoping to raise £1 for each completed mile.

The Growth Partners team has lots of other fundraising ideas in the pipeline, including the development of innovative open-source software for local businesses, a charity auction, a summer BBQ and a curry contest.
