Chamber president appointed board director of The Law Society of England & Wales

The president of Solihull Chamber of Commerce, Eileen Schofield, has been appointed as board director of The Law Society of England & Wales this month.

Eileen set up Schofield & Associates in 2009 and was appointed as president of Birmingham Law Society in 2014 and subsequently the first female Chair of the Board of Birmingham Law Society in 2019 for a three year term.

Eileen commented that she is proud to take on the role with the Board, she said: “It's an important time for the legal sector and the profession. It's an exciting opportunity to make a genuine difference working with a fantastic team of fellow Directors.”

Law Society board chair Robert Bourns said: “I am pleased to welcome Eileen and our other new members in succession. The skills, experience, and insights they possess will support the further development of the Law Society as it works to promote our profession as well as the integrity and standing of this jurisdiction in an ever changing and challenging environment.”

President of the Law Society Lubna Shuja said: “The Board has a key role in ensuring we represent, support and promote the solicitor's profession at home and internationally whilst also keeping a focus on public interest.

“I look forward to working with our new members who bring with them a wealth of knowledge and expertise which will be invaluable to the Law Society.”
