Mr Collinson said: “I am delighted to be chairing “The Global Journey ”, the closing session for the Greater Birmingham Commonwealth and Transatlantic Chambers ' Global Trade Conference.
“The University of Birmingham is a global university and international engagement has been at the heart of our journey from the outset.
“Our founders were inspired by a study tour to America; the industrialist Andrew Carnegie was one of our original benefactors. Over a century later, our global vision is firmly rooted in our civic identity and we are committed to ensuring that the University 's global influence is at the core of our region 's dynamism.
“More than ever, many of the challenges we face, whatever the nature of our business, are global in nature and I am delighted to chair this session which will see local companies talk about their own global journeys and share their own experiences and insights into the global environment in which we operate. ”
