Lichfield and Tamworth Chamber of Commerce is calling on members to offer their time to support chosen charity, Number Eight Tamworth, in a volunteering day taking place on Thursday 20 July.

Number Eight currently support 12 families and 12 babies under a year old in supported living across three properties in Tamworth.

The plan is to redecorate rooms in their Albert Road house, which has recently been flooded by a burst pipe.

Charity chair, Richard Hughes, said: “Fundraising for the charity is hugely important but so is ensuring our families are comfortable and live in a clean, well decorated and welcoming place for parents and their young children.

“We 've recently welcomed AECOM, a risk management company from Birmingham, who spent the day working in the gardens of our properties and carrying out other maintenance duties in the houses.

“The help and support of members of the Chamber will go such a long way on helping our families enjoy their time with us in the coming years. ”

Charlotte Candy, risk director for AECOM who recently volunteered, said: “It was a hugely rewarding day spent with team members, helping out a charity which provides such a vital service for the young families of Tamworth and the surrounding area.

“We 'd certainly recommend businesses and their employees put themselves forward to help, it 's a fantastic team building opportunity as well. '

Fiona Rouse, president of Lichfield and Tamworth Chamber, said: “Since our partnership began in April 2022, our members have helped raised over £2,000 at various fundraising events for number Eight Tamworth as well as welcoming Richard and his team to our events and helping to significantly grow their network locally.

“We understand the time of our members is precious so any help and support would be hugely welcomed for what is a very deserving cause. ”

Those interested in volunteering are encouraged to contact division director, Chris Brewerton, on [email protected] to confirm how they can support on the day.
