Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce is supporting an event in Brussels designed to showcase Birmingham as a global powerhouse.

'Birmingham Global: The Commonwealth Games, city-diplomacy, open and collaborative partnerships ' will seek to identify practical opportunities to work with Birmingham and the West midlands.

It takes place in Brussels on Wednesday 29 June and the GBCC is a key partner alongside Aston and Birmingham City Universities, Birmingham City Council, the West Midlands Growth Company and West Midlands Europe Hub.

Key highlights of the event will include:

  • Showcasing our regional strengths in Financial Services, Advanced Manufacturing/Future Mobility, Low Carbon, Data Driven Health Care and Digital & Tech
  • An open Invitation to business to join our UK House programme in August 2022 and engaging in our Global Growth programme (GGP).
  • How we would like to continue R&I and knowledge exchange with European and global partners

Mandy Haque (pictured), international director at Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, said: “We are delighted to support the event taking place in Brussels to identify practical opportunities to work with Birmingham and the wider West Midlands region.

“Post leaving the EU it is now more important than to ensure our city-region is promoted for trade and investment.

“The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games puts us on the world stage and we need to make sure we maximise every opportunity. ”
