A member of the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce Documentation team has officially qualified as a documentation officer.

Khadijah Bibi joined the Chamber work experience programme Women’s Working Lab in March 2026.

The programme is a six-week fully funded course which empowers women to gain the skills and confidence to get back into working life.

During her programme, Khadijah spent a few weeks learning about the different roles at the Chamber and developed an interest in the Documentation department.

After completing the course, she was offered a part-time position with the Documentation team.

Khadijah (pictured) said: “I was delighted to be offered the role, and I now work part-time with the wonderful team at Docs.

“I am grateful to work with such an incredible team. They are hardworking, dedicated people who make time to support and lift each other up. Working alongside such a kind and collaborative group makes all the difference.

“I have officially been in this role since June 2026 and have so far become increasingly confident in dealing with EUR.1s and Certificates of Origin, thanks to the team helping me every step of the way, especially my main mentor, Sarah Barton.

“I managed to successfully pass both courses and am now a certified officer. I would encourage people to take the first step and apply for whatever role you want in life and see where it takes you – don’t overthink it. You will be surprised where you may end up.”

Jonathan Crosbie, head of Documentation at the Chamber said: “When Khadijah spent time with us during her work experience, she showed a lot of interest and understanding and was pleasant to work with.

“When we had the opportunity to fill a part-time role, we already had the ideal candidate in mind and were ecstatic when she agreed to join us.

“ Khadijah has come in and picked up the skills we need quickly and is eager to learn and develop. Working alongside Sarah and Cheryl she is in good hands and a great fit for the team.”
