The future of sustainability and what it means for Greater Birmingham business will be in the spotlight when a major Chamber campaign returns for a second year.

The Sustainable Business Series is the Chamber 's flagship campaign on environmental sustainability - with the aim of sharing best practice, guidance and knowledge on the measures businesses can take, and commercial benefits of, progressing to net zero.

The campaign will cover a range of themes including:

  • Minimising the impact of rising energy costs
  • Reducing your businesses carbon footprint
  • Low carbon business opportunities
  • Decarbonisation in key sectors
  • Climate resilience: risk and adaptation

The campaign comprises a series of webinars, in-person events and Zoom Q&As on topics related to the topics listed above.

The series will culminate with the Sustainable Business Series Conference which takes place on 2 November at the University of Birmingham 's Exchange Building.

The events and webinars are all free. Headline sponsors for the campaign are the University of Birmingham and Aston University.

Raj Kandola, head of policy at Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, said: “The return of the Sustainable Business Series comes at a pivotal time for local businesses, especially in light of soaring energy prices and broader economic uncertainty.

“Last year 's campaign offered businesses guidance and advice on how to embark on their net zero journey and the aim is to build on this platform and give firms the tools they need to adapt and thrive.

“We would also like to thank our headline sponsors, Aston University and the University of Birmingham for partnering with us on this prominent campaign for the second year running.

“I would urge businesses to book onto these free to attend events to learn more about commercial opportunities that exist at the heart of this area and gain practical guidance on how to adapt to an ever-evolving agenda. ”
