Chamber to welcome Sri Lankan businesses
Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce is to welcome a high-profile delegation of Sri Lankan businesses for talks next month.
The visit and networking lunch on 14 September is organised by the National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka in partnership with the High Commission of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka is visiting Birmingham.
The delegation is headed by the National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka CEO M. Shiham Marikar.
It will be the delegation's only visit outside of London and will provide Greater Birmingham firms with the chance to meet with producers of Sri Lanka's best ethically sourced and manufactured products and service exporters.
Sri Lanka specialises in agriculture, manufacturing and services, with the UK being its second highest export destination in 2022.
The UK was Sri Lanka's 21st import destination in the same period.
Sri Lanka's exports to the UK increased by 2.43 per cent in 2022 and values are increasing year on year.
The delegation are in the UK for the full week, but are making a special visit to Birmingham to meet with GBCC members due to the relationship built with High Commission commercial team.
Mandy Haque, international director at the GBCC, said: “This is great example of how the Chamber's global connections can add value to our members, to help businesses connect and grow their international footprint.
“We will be working with the Sri Lankan High Commission to arrange business to business meetings to support bilateral trading opportunities and we are delighted that they have chosen Birmingham.”
