Future stars of Belgium 's food and drink sector had the opportunity to pitch to Birmingham business leaders during a visit organised by Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce and the Belgian Embassy.

The GBCC and committee members from its Transatlantic and Commonwealth divisions welcomed a delegation from Haute Ecole de la Province de Lige, a higher education institution from the city of Liege.

The visiting students and interns were representing a variety of food and drink brands including Charlemagne Chocolatiers, Nutriphys, Brasserie De L'Abbaye Du Val-Dieu and Delka.

They pitched products such as chocolates, beers, sauces and vitamin supplements to a group which includes Liquid agency boss Elisabeth Lewis-Jones, Transatlantic Chamber vice-president Eileen Schofield and Commonwealth Chamber committee member Louise Teboul.

Chris McFarlane-Baxter, head of international divisions at the GBCC, said: “We were delighted to welcome the delegation from the Liege region.

“The young people, on an economic mission to Birmingham from the Walloon region, pitched chocolate, beer, sauces, and vitamin supplements - which is no small achievement in a language that's not your own! ”
