Charity calls for 50 volunteers to save 300 pieces of care equipment
Lichfield and Tamworth Chamber of Commerce’s charity of the year Grace Cares is inviting local people and businesses to roll up their sleeves for a unique volunteering challenge next month.
The award-winning charity is seeking 50 volunteers to help test, prepare and cover 300 NHS-approved hybrid airflow mattresses which have been donated.
Instead of heading to landfill, the mattresses – all under three years old - will be redistributed to people and care providers who desperately need them.
Volunteers are being asked to give up an hour each to help between 9.30am and 4pm on Wednesday 1 October at Elmhurst Business Park, Lichfield.
With enough helping hands, all 300 mattresses can be saved in a single day.
Grace Cares co-founder Hannah Montgomery said: “What else would you be doing for an hour? Scrolling, Netflix, another meeting? This is an hour that truly changes lives.”
Members of the Chamber team will be there playing a part.
Grace Cares already delivers £4–£7 of social value for every £1 spent and is on a mission to support one-million people - with the next milestone being 10,000 by 2028.
