Charity launches free pregnancy and parenting learning platform
National charity Tommys have announces the launch of a free pregnancy and parenting learning platform for all small and medium sized businesses in Birmingham.
The Government-backed scheme was launched in July and provides vital training and resources to assist employers and employees create a positive pregnancy and parenting workplace. Employees will also have free and confidential access to the Tommys Midwife team for any advice they need.
Tommy 's is a national charity that works tirelessly to reduce the UK 's unacceptable rates of miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth. The charity funds pioneering medical research to discover the causes of baby loss and helps women at every stage of their pregnancy journeys, supporting them and their partners with expert information and care.
Whilst most employers want to support their staff through pregnancy and parenting, very few know how to. Tommys learning platform equips the employer with the necessary skills and resource to meet their employees ' needs throughout their journey, including when there are issues and complications.
With funding from the Department for Health, Tommys have worked closely with partners and businesses to develop their pregnancy and parenting at work content into a free learning platform that is suitable for 'SMEs '
Tommy 's fundraising director Jacqui Clinton said: “We are so pleased to see funding for reproductive wellbeing in the workplace being prioritised by the Department of Health and Social Care.
“Our grant has enabled Tommys to develop a learning platform that can reach thousands of people working for small and medium sized enterprises and deliver trusted pregnancy and parenting advice ”.
