Charity launches newsletter for brewing heritage fans
The National Brewery Heritage Trust (NBHT) has launched a new digital newsletter, Brewery Heritage, which features an overview of many of the Trust 's activities throughout 2021, as well as special insights into their historic collections.
Formed in 2011, the NBHT is a charity which aims to promote a greater knowledge and appreciation of Britain 's rich brewing heritage covering all aspects from grain to glass.
The newsletter is the latest in a series of initiatives designed to raise awareness of the unique collection of archives and artefacts held at the National Brewery Centre in Burton on Trent.
NBHT 's archives website launched in July 2020, providing free access to an ever-developing treasure trove of artefacts and documents. Brewery Heritage includes an eclectic mix of articles written by Trustees and expert researchers, and the first edition contains a feature by Matthew Abel on his research into Edward Ind 's Romford Brewery, a potted history of James Butler 's iconic 'Cooper ' statue, and a review of some recent additions to the collection.
The newsletter is available as a free PDF download.
Readers can also register to receive future editions of the quarterly newsletter direct to their email inbox by subscribing online.
Harry White, chair of the National Brewing Heritage Trust, said: “We are delighted to announce the release of this inaugural edition of Brewing Heritage, which we hope will become essential reading for anyone with an interest in the history of brewing and pubs.
“In spite of the continued uncertainties surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic, 2021 was a busy and successful year for the Trust, and we are keen to share our progress and recent news with a wider audience. Thanks to a series of new acquisitions over the past year, the number of brewing and pub companies represented in our collections has doubled to almost 3,000. ”
As a registered charity, the NBHT depends on subscriptions and grants to continue its important work. Individual Membership is available for only £25 a year, which includes a generous 20 per cent discount at the National Brewery Centre, redeemable against admission to the museum and events, as well as purchases in the shop and restaurant.
