Social purpose law firm Anthony Collins has promoted experienced charity specialist Edwina Turner to its partnership.

Described as “excellent to work with and knows her stuff” by Legal 500, Edwina’s promotion brings further strength to the firm’s governance work.

Supporting both national and international charities, with a particular focus on religious charities, Edwina specialises in restructures, mergers and internal governance.

She works closely with boards and C-suites to provide expert legal counsel through periods of change, as well as acting as an interim manager for the Charity Commission.

She also plays a leading role in the firm’s trainee solicitor development programme, working to ensure that all participants receive the highest level of training that is both challenging and enjoyable.

Edwina Turner (pictured) said: “As someone who is passionate about the charity sector and the clients I support, being promoted to the Anthony Collins partnership is a recognition of our charity work being at the heart of the firm.

“The firm’s social purpose ethos shines through in the work we deliver for our clients, and I am proud to be part of the high-performing charities sector team.”

The firm has also made a number of promotions across both its Birmingham and Manchester offices.

In the governance team, Esther Campsall has been promoted to legal director, specialising in education governance and charity law.

Laura Mynott joins her as legal director in the property team, supporting social businesses and faith organisations.

The firm has also promoted five colleagues to senior associate.

Catherine Gibbons’ promotion further strengthens the firm’s governance team, and she will continue her work supporting a diverse range of charity clients across the firm’s faith, housing and health and social care sectors, as well as acting as an interim manager of charities where appointed by the Charity Commission.

In the housing litigation and management team, Penny Bournes’ promotion strengthens the firm’s service to registered providers, due to her expertise in providing non-contentious specialist housing management advice and training.

In the property team, Amy Barons’ promotion will allow her to provide further support for public bodies, registered providers and charity clients on the acquisition, sale or lease of affordable housing and development land.

In the personal injury team, Sarah Owen’s will continue her work representing individuals pursuing compensation claims following medical negligence or an accident.

Senior associate Hazel Findlay has been promoted in the employment and pensions team.

A further four colleagues have been promoted to associate - Ben Bray in the property team, Ravinderjit Dosanjh in the commercial litigation team, Sike Olawale in the projects team, and Gail Saunders in the private client team.

Also in the private client team, April Hill has been promoted to executive caseworker.

Matthew Wort, senior partner at Anthony Collins, said: “Promoting our people is a mark of our ongoing success and our commitment to delivering excellent client service now and in the future.

“It’s proof that the support we provide to employees – both personally and professionally – helps them to build successful careers and brings benefits for the firm and the clients and communities we serve.

“Importantly, we know that by investing in the leaders of tomorrow, we are creating a business model with sustainable growth built in.”
