Charity receives funding to transform family hub
Colebridge Trust has announced that they have been awarded a grant from the Morrisons Foundation, in order to transform their outdoor area and Evergreen Family Hub in Kingshurst.
This funding will offer a vibrant, safe, welcoming, and stimulating environment for children and families, replacing a barren space with opportunities for play, connection, and learning.
The project will introduce fence-mounted interactive playground equipment such as sensory panels, musical play boards, and activity walls to promote fine motor skills and sensory development.
Moveable garden boxes will allow families to grow flowers, vegetables, and herbs, fostering nature connection and practical learning. Outdoor seating and shaded areas will create spaces for relaxation and socialising, and chalkboard walls and creative zones will spark imagination and social interaction.
Colebridge Trust are looking for local businesses and volunteers to offer any support available to assist them with the implementation stage to get involved.
Local businesses can get involved in creating the new outdoor retreat by lending a hand with painting fences, building furniture, tidying, and planting.
Colebridge are also seeking a sponsor to help them continue investing in and developing the vibrant community space for children and families
Becci Fox, Partnerships and Projects manager at Colebridge Trust, said: "We’re incredibly grateful to the Morrisons Foundation for their generous grant, which is allowing us to transform an unused space into a vibrant outdoor retreat.
“This space will give us a valuable opportunity to offer sensory activities that support children's development, promote health and wellbeing for families, and help reduce social isolation by providing another safe, inclusive area to play, connect, and thrive together.
“We would also warmly welcome any support from local businesses to help us bring this vision to life and continue developing the space for everyone to enjoy."
A launch event will take place once the outdoor area is completed to engage the community, promote the space, and raise awareness of the Hub’s wider support services.
