Youth charity YMCA Burton have announced that tickets for their 13th annual Sleepout are now on sale.

The annual event will be held in-person at Burton Albion Football Clubs Pirelli Stadium on Firday 29 October, with the option to attend virtually as well.

The Sleepout encourages people to sleep out for one night to raise awareness and funds towards the plight of homelessness in the East Staffordshire borough area.

Fundraiser Paula Senior said: “Last year due to Covid-19 and social distancing measures in place we had to hold our Sleepout virtually so this year we are so excited to be bringing it back in-person. We look forward to seeing you all again, it will certainly be emotional! ”

The Sleepout at Pirelli can be done alone, with family, friends or colleagues. The tickets will be limited to allow for some social distancing and will be priced £10 for adults and £5 for under 16s.

The virtual Sleepout will allow people to take part in their gardens, or if you 're seeking inspiration from last year; some people slept in a cave, a kennel and on a hillside.

CEO Paul Laffey has taken part in every single Sleepout since it began.

He said: “I am looking forward to taking part in my 13th Annual YMCA Sleepout, and welcoming all participants taking part.

"The Sleepout for me, remains a very humbling experience where I take the opportunity to thank God for my family, friends and my home. It 's a special reminder of the people staff and volunteers support 365 days a year at the YMCA. It allows participants to raise awareness and much needed funds for their local community.

"After 18 months of events being cancelled and postponed - we are thrilled to be hosting our largest fundraiser of the Year and I hope you will consider joining me for the Sleepout this year. It is never more needed. ”
