Little Hearts Matter (LHM) - the only UK charity that specifically supports families affected by a diagnosis of half a working heart - has appointed Husne Begum as its new head of fundraising.

She will be working as part of the team heading up the development of the charity 's fundraising.

Husne (pictured) has nearly two decades of experience in fundraising and has worked in a wide range of charities including health and medical, social care and arts charities where she secured income of up to six figures.

Husne has worked with businesses in the region and supported them to achieve their CSR goals and reach key audiences.

Chair of the board at LHM, David Baumber, said: “Husne joining the team is a fantastic development for the charity.

“She brings with her a wealth of fundraising experience and knowledge local to Birmingham where our national office is based.

“As a charity which receives no government support, fundraising is critical to enable LHM to provide the wide range of services to its members at their time of need, free of charge.

“Not all children born with half a heart survive, and the life expectancy of those who do is extending due to medical advances.

“This means that the services of LHM are also expanding, making fundraising ever more important. ”

Husne, who has spent the majority of her career in fundraising, joins LHM after managing the development team at Birmingham Museums Trust where she fundraised for the enrichment and educational needs of young people.

She said: “I am excited to take on the role of Head of Fundraising at LHM. This is a very special charity that provides crucial support and information for families as they navigate their way through the fear, isolation and confusion that having a child with only half a heart creates.

“My focus will be on developing relationships with businesses in the region to find opportunities for them to get involved and help them deliver their corporate social responsibility.

“Not only that, I want businesses in the West Midlands to enjoy their relationship with us and benefit from our partnership together.

“This can be anything from getting a team together for one of our challenge events, running their own activities, selecting us as Charity of the Year, donating or finding other unique ways to get involved that suit their business goals. ”
