City centre conference venue announces charity of the year
Holiday Inn Birmingham City Centre and the Birmingham Conference & Events Centre (BCEC) has announced Acorns Children’s Hospice as their official charity of the year for 2025-26.
Chosen by a staff wide vote across both venues, Acorns was selected for the exceptional support it provides to children and families across the West Midlands.
Over the course of the financial year, teams at the hotel and conference centre will raise vital funds, volunteer their time at Acorns retail stores and events and take part in a variety of sponsored activities.
Matthew Woodall, venue manager at the Holiday Inn Birmingham City Centre and BCEC, said: “Supporting Acorns is more than a partnership for us – it’s a shared commitment to our community.
“Our team was passionate about choosing a cause that truly makes a difference, and we’re proud to be standing alongside Acorns to help them continue their vital work.”
Acorns Children’s Hospice provides specialist palliative care for babies, children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, as well as support for their families.
Last year, Acorns supported over 700 children and almost 1,000 families, including those who are bereaved.
With three hospices located in Birmingham, Walsall and Worcester, Acorns offers a lifeline to families across the region and relies on donations and partnerships to fund the majority of its services.
It costs over £13 million each year to provide the care in their three hospices and in the wider community.
Emma Harewood, partnerships fundraising officer at Acorns Children’s Hospice said: “We’re thrilled to have been chosen as Charity of the Year by the fantastic team at Holiday Inn and BCEC.
“Their energy and enthusiasm are truly inspiring, and we look forward to an exciting year of partnership and impact.”
The 2025/2026 partnership officially begins this month, with the first volunteering days and fundraising activities already being planned.
