City events venue hosts hospitality awards ceremony
Birmingham Conference & Events Centre (BCEC) recently hosted this year’s Birmingham Hospitality Awards, bringing together hospitality professionals from across the city for an evening of celebration, recognition and community.
The Birmingham Hospitality Awards, organised by the Birmingham Hospitality Association, shine a light on the people, teams and businesses who make the industry a vibrant and welcoming place to work.
During the night, BCEC and Holiday Inn Birmingham City Centre took home three awards. Matt Woodall was named Sustainability Hero, an award sponsored by Experienced Energy.
Matt has played an important role in supporting the venue’s ongoing sustainability journey, helping to champion positive environmental initiatives and encouraging the wider team to think differently about sustainability.
The venue’s kitchen team was also recognised, taking home the top team award, sponsored by Birmingham Colmore.
The award recognises the dedication, teamwork and hard work of the culinary team behind the scenes, who play an important role in delivering great experiences for guests and clients.
Bernie Blizzard was named People’s Choice, sponsored by Central BID. Bernie is celebrating 40 years of service with the company this year.
Heather Hoskins, general manager at Birmingham Conference & Events Centre and Holiday Inn Birmingham City Centre, said “I was absolutely thrilled that Birmingham Hoteliers Association chose our venue for the third – now annual awards night.
“I can’t say I didn’t hold my breath whilst waiting for 300 soft poached eggs to come out over the pass, but our now award-winning kitchen brigade pulled it off!
“It was such a fun evening too, celebrating all things Hospitality in Birmingham is truly special. I’m sure when the sums are calculated we will have a good amount raise for SIFA Fireside charity as well.
“None of which would have been possible without the support of our suppliers and business partners.”
