Birmingham youngsters were given an intriguing insight into the world of hi-tech – courtesy of two city experts.

Vytas Jelinskas and Ben Whitmarsh, executives at ReVybe IT, the Midlands’ first DevOps and Cloud specialist recruitment agency, gave a talk to 180, year 9 students at PACT.

The talk aimed to inspire children to consider a career in technology, support the growth of the region’s tech scene and highlight the vast range of opportunities available in the world’s fastest-growing industry.

Back when Vytas and Ben were in school, the pair say technology wasn’t considered a viable career prospect, with no coding taught, or any excitement over the future of technology.

But a mere decade later the duo consider technology to be at the heart of everything in the modern world, with mobile phones consuming daily lives, laptops at the centre of remote working, and AI quickly becoming a phenomenon across the globe.

Ben Whitmarsh said: “The students were receptive, knowing lots about social media (surprise surprise!), phones, and computers. What the students didn’t realise, was that you didn’t have to be a coder to work in technology.

“You can create video games, be a football data analyst, create your own technology platforms, and much more. There are thousands of routes to take in the world of technology.

“For any secondary schools or universities looking for speakers around technology and employability, get in touch by emailing Hello@ReVybeIT.co.uk

“On the other hand, if you need support on the DevOps and Cloud recruitment, and want a team of specialists to help find world-class talent, get in touch using the same email address.”
