Co-founder and director at Popcorn&Co. Vince Lund (pictured) has been shortlisted for Best Animation at the inaugural Forward Film & Television Festival, set to take place in Birmingham this July.

The nomination recognises a short film created by Vince as part of an ongoing R&D project, using a blend of emerging technologies, including AI-assisted tools and markerless motion capture, to explore new possibilities in animated storytelling.

The Forward Film & Television Festival is a new celebration of international screen talent, set in the heart of Digbeth - Birmingham’s creative quarter and home to the newly launched Digbeth Loc. Studios, The Screen & Film School and the Mockingbird Cinema.

The four-day event will include screenings, industry Q&As, and a public awards ceremony, with strong involvement from the local business and cultural community.

This marks Vince's first nomination at the festival, and adds to Popcorn&Co.’s growing presence in the region’s creative sector.

While best known for his work in visual effects and broadcast storytelling, this experimental piece showcases Vince's continued focus on creative innovation and the studio’s commitment to exploring how new technologies can support bold, engaging content.

Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony between 17 and 20 July.
