Colebridge Trust announces opening of new outdoor garden area
The Colebridge Trust has announced the official opening of a new outdoor garden area at Evergreen Family Hub.
The new outdoor area provides a welcoming and inclusive space for local families and the wider community to enjoy.
The outdoor space was officially opened on Friday 21 August, marking the completion of a transformative community project designed to promote play, learning, wellbeing, and togetherness.
The new garden features a planting and growing area, a mud kitchen, a wet play zone, a sensory tent and sensory panels, as well as a covered seating area where families can gather, play games, and take part in activities.
The development has been supported by a grant from the Morrison Foundation with donations from local business Global Timer, and fundraising through The Railway Football Tournament.
The project is a testament to the power of community partnership and collaboration.
A significant contribution was also made by Solihull College & University Centre.
Students and staff were instrumental in designing and constructing the outdoor space. Throughout the summer, the construction team worked tirelessly to bring the vision to life and create a lasting asset for local families.
Lynsey Broome, construction programme manager at Solihull College & University Centre, said: “It has been our privilege to build this outdoor space for Evergreen Family Hub. We didn’t just build a space; we built a bond.
“We have many learners at Solihull College who reside within this area, and giving back is an honour. It has felt personal; it’s more than a project; it’s our commitment to the families and neighbours we share this community with.
“For our learners, their families, and the community we serve, Solihull College Construction Team are proud to give back.”
Becci Fox, partnership and projects manager at Colebridge Trust, added: “Evergreen Family Hub's outdoor area is a special place for our community, offering a welcoming environment where families can come together to play, relax, and support their wellbeing.
“Our hope is that it creates a real sense of belonging and togetherness. We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who donated funding, materials, and hands-on skills.
“We truly couldn't have done it without you and cannot wait to see the positive impact this space will make for years to come.”
The opening event gave local residents the opportunity to explore the new facilities and celebrate the achievement together. Food and refreshments were kindly donated and served by Mark and Steph Picken from VW Coffee Shack and The Rollin Coffee Kitchen.
Entertainment was provided by DJ Andy Eames, while a stunning balloon arch was created by Becreate Events.
The garden was officially opened by the Mayor of Solihull, who attended the event alongside his wife and joined community members in celebrating the completion of the project.
