BMet is supporting International Women 's Day (IWD) with a range of college focused activities, highlighting the achievements and journeys of students and staff.

The college community will share their voices and highlight their achievements in celebration of the special awareness day, through a series of engaging case studies and testimonials, all showcased via social media channels.

Having the Embrace Equity theme this year for IWD , the global occasion celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women 's equality.

To reinforce the theme, BMet 's activity for International Women 's Day will focus on women who are striving to succeed in male-dominated professions.

To highlight this, key areas of the college 's curriculum including construction, engineering and sports will be featured with short creative videos.

One video features sports students spelling out the word “Women ” with their bodies and another is of a short poem on female empowerment written by a student.

Speaking of the important dates in the college 's calendar, vice principal for external development Suzie Branch-Haddow, said: “We are delighted to be celebrating this week. Further education and vocational education play a vital role in helping people to achieve their career goals.

“Through IWD, we showcase our students and highlight the range of career opportunities that can be attained via a variety of our courses.

“We are proud of our diverse college communities and relish the chance to celebrate them through invaluable campaigns like these. ”
