Asian Business Chamber executive committee member Mani Hayre has become a published author after turning her luck around following a job loss early last year.

In March 2020, Mani (pictured) became one of many casualties of redundancy due to the pandemic and decided to set up a copywriting business, Mani 's Madness, during her hiatus.

Mani was soon approached by Amo Raju, CEO of the Disability Direct charity, with the proposition of working as a ghost-writer on his new, semi-autobiographical book 'Walk Like A Man '.

Despite only meeting in real life a couple of times during the last 16 months, Mani and Amo worked together to bring Amo 's story to life through the eyes of main protagonist, Aj.

'Walk Like A Man ' follows Aj through all the trials and tribulations of navigating a world not designed for disabled people.

The key themes raised focus heavily on disability and mental health, based closely on Amo 's experiences of almost being written off as a child by teachers and others due to his limited physical ability.

Despite his struggles, protagonist Aj is determined to make a name for himself and change the way society views disabled people.

Amo said: “I decided to hire a writer to help me bring my story to life. I had the first three or four chapters written but, with lockdown having an effect on us all, my motivation to continue by myself went with it. That 's when I happened upon Mani just setting up her business and the rest was history. ”

Walk Like A Man is due for release on Amazon this month.
