Commonwealth trade explored in themed week
Trade opportunities across the Commonwealth will be the focus of a themed week, being hosted by Department for International Trade (DiT).
The department will be hosting a Commonwealth Event week between 26 and 30 July, coinciding with the one year to go until the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
As part of the week, DiT will be a hosting a Meet the Expert, live and recorded webinars to showcase export opportunities available across the Commonwealth.
Shehzad Chaudhary, deputy director for the Midlands Engine at DiT - alongside trade advisers and market experts with expertise in trading with Africa, South Asia, Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean - will host events as part of the week.
Today 's 54 Commonwealth countries account for more than 18 per cent of world GDP in Purchasing Power Parity and is home to 2.4 billion people.
Even without any formal arrangements, trading between Commonwealth countries is 19 per cent cheaper than with non-members. Massive cost cuts come from shared history, cultural links, common legal systems, business practices, and a common language between many Commonwealth countries.
