Comms consultancy celebrates award-winning work experience
Communications consultancy Liquid is celebrating an award win at the PRCA Internship and Apprenticeships Awards 2021.
Owen Maginnis (pictured), Liquid 's intern, has been named 'Best Intern ' at the awards after successfully completing his year in industry with the company as part of his Business Management degree at the University of Liverpool.
Izzy Jenkins, who is completing her placement year with Liquid as part of her degree at the University of Birmingham, was also shortlisted for the award.
Liquid is now offering its award-winning work experience to sixth form and university students as part of a virtual work experience programme.
Over the past year, students have faced difficulty in securing valuable work experience and the virtual session is an effort to help give students essential sector knowledge and insight while traditional placements have not been possible.
The Birmingham and Channel Islands-based consultancy hosted its first virtual work experience sessions in February 2021, which saw 140 students engage with the course, and is now re-launching the programme to enable more students to gain an understanding and experience of PR, social media, and digital marketing.
Taking place on the 28 and 29 July respectively, the sessions 'An Introduction to PR ' and 'An Introduction to Social and Digital ' are both endorsed and certified by the Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA), giving participants both valuable insights and a certificate as proof of participation.
Spaces are now available for both virtual work experience sessions, with room for 300 students from across the country to attend each session. Hosted by Liquid 's team in Birmingham, the sessions aim to provide useful career insights and help students navigate the challenges of gaining work experience during the current pandemic.
Liquid CEO, Elisabeth Lewis-Jones, said: “We 're so proud of our fabulous interns, Owen and Izzy, for their success at the PRCA Internship and Apprenticeship Awards. Both of them have produced outstanding work for us and our clients and have become an invaluable part of the Liquid team.
"We understand that 2020 and 2021 have been challenging years for everyone, especially students seeking work experience placements, so we are proud to support our young people in these times of uncertainty by offering our own virtual sessions to support those looking to join the profession.
“Giving back means a lot to our team and nurturing new talent is an integral part of who we are as an organisation. ”
Students can sign up to the sessions via Eventbrite. Register for 'An Introduction to PR ' here and 'An Introduction to Social and Digital ' here.
