The Oasis Hobmoor community hub in South Yardley recently hosted over 80 children during the February half term break.

Out of the children, 47 per cent live in poverty, and 86 per cent are on free school meals. Oasis has four charities in Birmingham, one of those being Oasis Community Hub Hobmoor, in South Yardley.

Oasis Hobmoor exists to empower and equip the community for a brighter future, and the holiday clubs are a key aspect of this vision.

The children were coached in sports skills such as football, cricket, and cycling.

They also engaged in creative cooking sessions including pizza and smoothie making and were provided hot meals.

For the teenagers, the club provides additional support for them to gain leadership qualifications from the Leadership Skills Foundation, which has proven to be a vital asset for their employability.

Alongside the support given to local children and young people, the clubs are also a lifeline for their caregivers, enabling them to stay in work and continue to earn an income for their family.
