Competition to choose Jewellery Quarter site name
Birmingham-based property developer, Cordia Blackswan is inviting local people, community organisations and businesses to engage with the naming of its site at 22a Great Hampton Street.
Cordia Blackswan is asking the public to share their favourite name to ensure that they feel part of the longstanding legacy of the Jewellery Quarter site.
Cordia Blackswan is currently converting the building - which was a former Lloyds bank - into a range of offices with the developer taking space on the first floor for its own headquarters.
The 15,000 sq ft building will feature a range of offices and cafes for local business and the community to utilise.
Cordia Blackswan also intends to fully refurbish a basement vault into a music venue as part of the renovation.
Cordia Blackswan is encouraging local people, Jewellery Quarter lovers, community organisations and businesses across the city to comment on their favourite name from Cordia Blackswan 's shortlist and follow Cordia Blackswan on Instagram or Twitter to be entered into a prize draw and have the chance of winning £100.
Marcus Hawley, managing director at Cordia Blackswan said: “We take great pride in ensuring we keep our communities at the front of our minds and want them to feel that the work we 're delivering truly does have a positive impact on the wider setting.
“All too often the community can feel disassociated and disconnected from developments and we would love the local community to let us know their favourite name for 22a.
“The names on our shortlist reference the site 's rich history, and we are looking for an identity that will resonate with the local community and reflect the character and history of the Jewellery Quarter and wider city. ”
“We look forward to sharing our Great Hampton Street story and the vision to help it reach its full potential that we have crafted alongside organisations including Birmingham City Council and the JQ BID. ”
To be in with the chase of winning the £100 prize, simply comment with your favourite name for 22a on Cordia Blackswan 's Instagram or Twitter by midnight on Sunday 15th August 2021.
Entries will be judged by 18 August.
The works at 22a Great Hampton Street are expected to be complete by the end of the year.
