Construction boss putts 72 holes in one day for charity
The CEO of a specialist infrastructure firm has successfully managed to play 72 holes of golf in one day, raising funds for Cancer Research UK.
Richard Toy, CEO of Auctus Management Group undertook this task last month – raising a total of £8000 for the charity. He was diagnosed with skin cancer and benign prostate enlargement.
There are over 1000 new cancer diagnoses every day, with 53 per cent of all cases from lung, breast, prostate and bowel.
The advance in research and treatment means that 50 per cent of all those diagnosed are now surviving their disease for more than 10 years, but there are still, on average, four deaths per day.
Eight out of ten treatments in the UK have been made possible through the work of Cancer Research UK, and any funding raised goes directly to them.
Richard Toy said: “Cancer doesn’t discriminate against family, friends or colleagues and will touch us all at some point in our lives.
“Raising over £ 8,000 for Cancer Research UK has been a privilege for me and the team from Kings Norton Golf Club, who completed 72 holes in one day.
“Starting at 04.30 in the morning and completing at 19.30 on what turned out to be the hottest day of the year so far was a great challenge!”
