Construction talent on show at awards ceremony

The future leaders of the West Midlands' booming construction sector are set to showcase their skills at an awards ceremony celebrating young local talent - after the finalists were announced.

From promising apprentices to talented young engineers, and from dedicated educators to innovative entrepreneurs, the shortlists for the first-ever Building the Future Awards reveal how companies across the region's construction sector are developing exceptional individuals under the age of 35.

The Building The Future Awards 2023, take place on Friday, 17th November, in Aston Villa's Holte Suite, and will feature a keynote speech by West Midlands Mayor Andy Street.

Companies represented on the shortlists include HS2 Ltd, Lovell Partnership, M & J Evans Construction and Barratt Homes. Categories range from Young Apprentice of the Year to Role Model of the Year.

Joint organiser Errol Lawson, of Emerge Leadership UK CIC, said:

“We are excited to reveal the finalists for the first-ever Building The Future Awards, which features standout talent from all parts of the construction sector, from major house builders to innovative start-ups.

“Construction is an essential element of the West Midlands economy, and developing the industry's talent is vital to the future success of so many businesses, across so many associated sectors.

“These finalists illustrate the breadth of that talent.”

Fellow organiser Zoe Bennett BEM added: “The brilliant response to the new Building the Future Awards, not only in terms of quality entries but backers supporting the event, illustrates the appetite there is to recognise how strong construction is in the West Midlands right now.

“Acknowledging the achievements of young professionals in the industry serves as an inspiration for aspiring individuals who are considering a career in this field.

“By highlighting the successes and contributions of these young talents, the Building The Future Awards 2023 instils a sense of pride, motivation, and encouragement throughout the industry.”
