Corporate volunteering programme launches at Kids’ Village
Kids' Village charity hosted its inaugural corporate volunteering day at its first site, Charlotte’s Kids’ Village, which will welcome families to stay from 2027.
The charity will offer families a magical holiday in a 30 acre site in Wychnor, near Lichfield as they build the UK’s first holiday village exclusively for critically ill children.
A team from McArthurGlen East Midlands Designer Outlet and West Midlands Designer Outlet joined the charity on site to help paint fencing around the village maintenance area and begin work transforming a donated unit into the new Volunteer Hub.
The Volunteer Hub will become an important part of the village once operational, providing a dedicated base for volunteer inductions, training, meetings and breaks.
Once open, and alongside a small on-site team, volunteers will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of Charlotte’s Kids’ Village and helping create a welcoming experience for families during their stay.
Katrina Cooke, chief executive of Kids’ Village, said: “Hosting our first corporate volunteer day on site was another milestone for the charity and hopefully the first of many.
“McArthurGlen was one of the very first businesses to pledge its support to the capital appeal to help build Charlotte’s Kids’ Village, so it felt especially fitting that their team became the first corporate volunteers on site.
“We’re extremely grateful for their ongoing support and commitment to Kids’ Village.
“As we move closer towards opening Charlotte’s Kids’ Village, corporate volunteering opportunities are now available for our existing partners and supporters, and we’d also love to hear from new organisations interested in supporting our cause.”
