Council completes extensive play area improvements across the borough
East Staffordshire Borough Council has announced that works have completed on an extensive programme of play area improvements, enhancing 42 play areas across the Borough.
This project has been delivered as part of an investment programme of over £500,000, funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The works were delivered by Kompan.
These works included installing new inclusive equipment, repainting and introducing interactive elements for children of all ages to enjoy.
Councillor Louise Walker, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, said: “It’s fantastic to see this extensive programme of works come to fruition, with children and young people taking advantage of the new and revitalised equipment.
“This crucial programme was aimed at helping to improve the health and wellbeing of our children and young people across the Borough.
“Play is an integral part of a child’s development, physically, mentally and socially, and ESBC Play areas are vital in supporting that.”
This programme of improvement sits alongside two separate projects whereby the Council has supported Parish-led projects in Draycott in the Clay and Henhurst Ridge, as well as recent investment in Shobnall Playing Fields and Pennycroft Park through the Covid Outbreak Management Fund.
