East Staffordshire Borough Council has completed a number of significant improvements to leisure and sports facilities across Uttoxeter, helping enhance opportunities for residents of all ages to stay active, participate in sport and enjoy high-quality community spaces.

The circa £170,000 programme of works has been delivered with a contribution of £33,422 from Everyone Active, who partners with the council to manage all leisure facilities across the region.

External enhancement works has been completed at Uttoxeter Leisure Centre, with a new sign alongside the treatment and redecoration of the building’s exterior.

A major refurbishment of the changing facilities at Pennycroft Park was completed in August 2026, seeing a complete reconfiguration of the internal layout to better meet the needs of local sports clubs and community users. Further improvements have also been made to the changing facility’s exterior in September 2026.

At Bramshall Road Park, significant drainage improvements have been undertaken to improve playing conditions on the site’s grass sports pitch, with trenching works having been completed in August 2026. This project follows the refurbishment of the site’s tennis facilities in September 2025.

As of April 2026, new energy-efficient LED floodlights have been installed at Oldfields rugby pitch, improving lighting quality while reducing energy consumption and maintenance costs.

The Council is continuing its investment at the site, with further funds allocated towards upgrading the football pitch floodlights. The project is currently in progress and will bring similar energy and performance benefits to the facility.

Following the full replacement of the artificial pitch completed last year at Thomas Alleyne's High School, new LED floodlights were recently installed in May 2026 to further enhance the facility.

The new lighting will support increased community and club use during evenings and throughout the winter months, helping to maximise the benefits of the earlier pitch improvements.

Cllr Paul Walker, cabinet member for tourism and cultural development, said: “We are committed to ensuring residents have access to high-quality leisure and sporting facilities that support healthier lifestyles and strengthen our communities.

“I am pleased to see these improvements delivered and look forward to progressing further enhancements in the future."

Dan Mclean, Everyone Active’s area contract manager, said: “We are proud to support the Council in making these improvements, which will really benefit local communities. These facilities do a fantastic job of supporting the health and wellbeing of people in East Staffordshire.”
