Council launches countywide 'switch off' to tackle air pollution
Staffordshire County Council are on a mission to get as many businesses and school sites as possible in Staffordshire, to sign up to become an anti-idling zone and join them in a countywide engine switch off.
Poor air quality can seriously aggravate conditions like asthma and it 's responsible for hundreds of deaths a year across Staffordshire. Turning off engines when not in use, can make a big difference to the amount of pollution businesses produce. It can help to reduce the effects it has on our health.
By signing up to become an anti-idling zone you are cutting down on the amount of pollution produced into the atmosphere resulting in cleaner air to breathe.
Once signed up, each site will join in and encourage their workforce and visitors to turn off their engines in a countywide campaign during 14-21 March 2022.
To help you encourage staff and visitors to get on board, the Council will send you your very own site kit and digital support pack.
Packs will be delivered the week commencing the 7 March.
All kits will include:
- Pollution explanation video
- Banner for railings
