Council launches first consultation for new local plan

East Staffordshire Borough Council has published the first consultation for its new Local Plan.

The consultation is open now and closes at 5pm on Thursday 27 August.

The new local plan will cover the period 2025-2043 and guide decisions about all types of development throughout this time.

This consultation seeks views on what to include in a vision, key objectives, where areas for growth/large scale development should be identified and the approach to consultation across East Staffordshire.

Comments can be made via an online document.

The consultation documents, evidence-based reports together with additional information, official notices and the timetable for the preparation of the local plan can be accessed through the website.

During the consultation period, paper copies of the consultation documents will also be available for viewing at East Staffordshire Borough Council’s offices during 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday.    

Responses should be submitted before 5pm on Thursday 27 August. Comments received after the end of the consultation may not be considered.

A summary of responses made to the New Local Plan consultation documents will be published in due course and taken into account when preparing the “New Local Plan contents and evidence base” stage through 2026 and the early part of 2027.
