Council launches Spring Clean campaign
Youngsters along with adults are being urged to become Cannock Chase 'Litter Heroes ' as part of the Great British Spring Clean campaign.
Back for its eighth year, the Spring Clean, which runs until April 2, is the nation 's biggest mass-action environmental campaign.
This year the focus will be on the pride #LitterHeroes have for their local community. The Council is encouraging people to do their bit to clear up the litter which blights Cannock Chase.
Every year the Council supports individuals, community organisations and businesses with bags and the loan of litter pickers and hoops.
Cannock Chase MP Amanda Milling is supporting the students of St. Joseph 's Catholic Primary School to support the Great British Spring Clean in Hednesford Park to launch this year 's campaign.
Councillor Justin Johnson, Portfolio Leader of Environment and Climate Change, said: “I am delighted that we are supporting Keep Britain Tidy 's Great British Sping Clean campaign, which is a great opportunity for residents to take pride in where they live, and pick up the litter that blights our area. I am asking residents and local organisations in Cannock Chase to pledge to pick up one bag or more of litter and make a big difference to our environment.
“I am delighted that St. Joseph 's Catholic Primary School are taking part in The Great Big School Clean. Not only have they helped to clean up Hednesford Park, they have also improved the look of the park by planting as well. Thank you to the school for all of their efforts. ”
Amanda Milling MP said “It is so encouraging to see local schoolchildren joining in with the Great British Spring Clean. Litter is something that blights our local parks and armed with bags and litter pickers, the pupils of St Joseph 's Catholic Primary School made short work of litter lurking in Hednesford Park.
“Thanks to the litter picking and planting afterwards, the pupils really have made a difference to the park. Well done to all the pupils of St. Joseph 's Catholic Primary School who came out to help out. ”
