Council to map out 'masterplan' for Solihull
Plans to expand Solihull town centre and secure a prosperous future for businesses will be revealed in a series of events during a five-week Chamber campaign.
The week of events will be hosted by the Solihull Chambers of Commerce and are supported by headline sponsors Aston University and IT solutions provider, Leap It.
Among talks surrounding the borough 's sustainable future, further events will discuss plans to build on the town 's infrastructure and create new opportunities for local businesses and young people after a year of uncertainty.
The 'The Future of Solihull Town Centre ' event will take place on 8 June at 2pm.
The event will explore Solihull Council 's new prospectus outlining its ambitious Town Centre Masterplan to unlock the future growth potential of Solihull. This will also include plans to modernise and diversify the current leisure and 'experience ' offer, as well as create increased housing and improved transport links.
Speakers will include Nick Page, chief executive at Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, Tony Elvin (pictured), general manager at Touchwood and Solihull Chamber president, Helena Morrissey, employment director at Thursfields and Nicola Corfield, sales manager at Solihull's Crowne Plaza Hotel and chair of Solihull Tourism Forum.
The other event will take place on 11 June at 11.30am, titled 'Opportunities on our Doorstep '.
The event will hear more about the exciting opportunities and inward investments created by the new High Speed 2 railway line, the NEC 's hosting of 11 days worth of Commonwealth Games events and the Urban Growth Company 's transformation of the UK Central Hub.
Speakers will include Matt Eagles, head of communications at Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, Louise Baggott, transformation project manager for Solihull MBC, Claire Barker, head of communications & engagement at Urban Growth Company and Michael Dyke, managing director at Balfour Beatty VINCI (BBV) for High Speed 2 (HS2).
All events in the series will be free to both members and non-members.
