East Staffordshire Borough Council has unveiled a major new blueprint outlining proposals for key developments in the Washlands adjacent to the town centre and in Uttoxeter.

The refreshed Corporate Plan illustrates the authority 's achievements over the past 12 months, and explains how the council will continue to deliver its corporate priorities over the forthcoming year.

This year, the council will continue its focus on improving the Washlands as a regional attraction by undertaking the delivery of a transformed riverside area adjacent to the High Street.

The Uttoxeter Masterplan will move forward in 2023/24 by finalising an agreement for the development of the Maltings precinct. Co-produced with residents, the scheme will utilise up to £1 million from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and a further £1.8 million from the Council 's capital programme.

Cllr George Allen (pictured), Leader of the Council, said: “I am pleased to see the refreshed Corporate Plan approved for the year ahead. This plan aims to show our residents, partners and staff, the council 's intentions during 2023/24 and beyond, focussing on how we will work together to support our communities. The refreshed Corporate Plan offers the Council guidance, detailing how corporate priorities are to be delivered over the next 12 months.

“The last year has seen many of the Borough 's regeneration projects start to take shape. We have allocated nearly £3 million towards regenerating the Maltings site in Uttoxeter and we 'll soon be delivering phase 1 of our planned works on the High Street site in Burton upon Trent.

“Tourism is increasingly an important part of our work, and over the next year the council will continue to develop its strategies further. We have also created a new brand identity for Burton which will be used to promote Burton and the borough as a place to invest, spend time and enjoy. ”
