Covid testing site opens in Rugeley
A new walk-through coronavirus testing facility has opened at Hagley Park School, Burnt Hill Lane in Rugeley.
Testing is only available for those with coronavirus symptoms - a high temperature, a new continuous cough, or a loss or change in sense of smell or taste. Anyone with one or more of these symptoms should book a test at nhs.uk/coronavirus or by calling 119.
Anyone attending an appointment at a walk-through test site will be provided with guidance on getting to and from the test site safely, with additional support for vulnerable groups and people with disabilities.
Councillor George Adamson (pictured), leader of Cannock Chase Council, said: “I am delighted that we have been able to secure another walk-in testing centre in the District, in an accessible location for the people of Rugeley and surrounding areas.
“It is really important if you have symptoms to get tested. Our District has seen the number of cases rise dramatically and by following the rules we can reduce that figure. We now have two testing centres for anyone with symptoms, regular lateral flow testing for hotspot areas for people without symptoms and vaccination centres opening across the District. We all need to play our part to reduce infections is our area. I would urge anyone with symptoms, however mild, to book a test today. ”
The testing centre is open from 8am until 8pm, seven days a week.
