Creative brand and website agency PLOTT, founded by siblings Anna and Richard Plotnek, is celebrating 15 years in business - milestone only one in 10 UK businesses reach.

PLOTT is a close-knit team of creatives, writers and developers working with clients across the UK, and specialising in the finance sector.

Managing director Anna Plotnek says the Sutton Coldfield business’ longevity is down to a strong creative culture, a clear vision, and a commitment to doing good work for good people.

She said: “There’s no secret. It’s hard work. Graft, really. But every business has to do that.

“Rich and I knew we wanted to grow the business, but not too fast, too far. Our team is both highly creative and remains agile. Able to respond quickly, and personally.”

The siblings continue to play to their strengths, with Anna overseeing sales, marketing and operations and Richard, as creative director, leading client work and creative execution.

“We knew early on that we had to make that work,” says Richard.

“As siblings, it’s important we don’t get under each other’s feet. That’s how we’ve stayed friends. The success of PLOTT depends on that.”

A strong internal culture has always been central to PLOTT’s success.

The team regularly makes time for company-wide adventures — from kayaking and caving to The Crystal Maze.

To mark 15 years, the team took part in a graffiti workshop with Birmingham street artist Panda.

The hands-on experience explored the history and culture of graffiti, before the team created their own large-scale PLOTT15! mural.

PLOTT remains focused on building creative partnerships, and fostering a workplace where people want to stay.

Anna’s advice to other business founders is: “Build a team that likes and helps each other — and reward them properly.”

Richard adds: “Invest in the culture early. If your team is strong, everything else is easier.”
