Fall in love with the whimsical, magical heart of Studio Ghibli in an intimate live concert experience delivered by creative experience collective Yuup.

Paying tribute to some of the most heartfelt compositions in cinema history, participants immerse themselves in a wonderful live performance concert celebrating the imaginary worlds of Hayao Miyazaki’s Studio Ghibli with the music of Joe Hisaishi.

The evening, happening at St Pauls Church Birmingham on Saturday, 6 April from 8pm,  features Pianist Nicolas Horvath who will cover the works of Studio Ghibli by Joe Hisaishi.

Nicolas Horvath, a Monaco-trained pianist, secured a 3-year scholarship from the Princess Grace Foundation at 16, mentored by conductor Lawrence Foster. Influenced by renowned pianists like Gelber and Frémy, he's a specialist in Liszt, known for rediscovering forgotten composers. Horvath collaborates globally, commissioning works from notable composers like Riley, Cosma, and Lucier.

His remarkable feats include a 12-hour non-stop performance of Philip Glass, the complete Klavierstücke by Stockhausen, and a crowd-attracting Satie's piano works at Philharmonie de Paris. Passionate about contemporary music, Horvath stands out as a bold explorer and performer.

The program includes the film soundtracks of some the best Studio Ghibli films including Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, The Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke and many more.

Participants will also discover some of the lesser-known gems of the Studio Ghibli catalogue, like Porco Rosso, Howl’s Moving Castle and The Wind Rises.

Join Melodia, a piano recital concert series, as they pay homage to the legendary films, relive the iconic scenes and characters of Studio Ghibli with this intimate live performance.

Whether you’re a fan of the Japanese animation studio or a lover of beautiful piano music, this is an event you don’t want to miss for all ages.
