The Future Faces division of the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce have announced that applications for the newly-rebranded Greater Birmingham Young Professional of the Year Awards will be closing on Monday 10 July at 11:59pm.

The awards, which are to take place on Friday 22 September at the Eastside Rooms, reflect the BPS network, Birmingham Future, merging with the young professionals division of Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce back in 2020.

PJ Ellis (pictured), owner of Lightbox Digital and co-founder of LoveBrum, will be judging the awards. Having read Law at the University of Birmingham, and then practising as a solicitor for seven years, PJ has now been in the digital world for over seven years. He was the founder of the social media agency, Blake7, which merged with Lightbox Digital in the summer of 2018.

An advocate of all things Brum, PJ also co-founded the charity LoveBrum in 2014, which shines a light on the “hidden gem ” projects of Birmingham. He mentors entrepreneurs, has helped raise over £1m worth of funding for start-up businesses, and has sat on the advisory boards of the Birmingham Law Society, BPS Leaders, TedX and the English Schools Football Association. He has a small investment portfolio and guest lectures at local Universities.

Having helped raise over £750k for charity, he received a Points of Light award from the Prime Minister, which recognises outstanding UK volunteers in their community.

Speaking on the awards, PJ said: “Birmingham is ace. Greater BYPY is ace. And so are you. Make sure talent is recognised at these prestigious awards by either nominating yourself or a colleague by the 11th of July. Trust me, it'll be worth it. ”
