Designer outlet McArthur Glen recently hosted a careers fair to facilitate meetings between brand partners and prospective candidates ahead of the upcoming busy trading periods.

Over 230 candidates took part in the fair and were able to discuss job opportunities at brands including Lacoste, Ted Baker and Calvin Klein.

This year, the West Midlands outlet gave their fair a twist and invited candidates to roam around the centre and drop into stores that have advertised vacancies.

There was great feedback from brand partners about the fair and the new approach. A representative from Saltrock said, “I feel it worked really well having a roaming fair rather than just a table at a stall. We will definitely take part in future job fairs as it saves a lot of time and really helps to put a face to the CV.”

A centre team member at Adidas also remarked on the success of the fair: “We have 20 people coming back for the second stage of applications, and due to the high quality of candidates, we have increased the amount we are looking to hire.”

During the fair, representatives from the Government’s Department for Work and Pensions gave advice and guidance to support applicants. The careers fair is a great example of assisting our brand partners to find talent as well as enabling people within the local community to find employment.

David Jackson, centre manager at Designer Outlet West Midlands, said, “We were delighted to welcome over 230 people from our local community recently to our careers fair, where many of our brand partners recruited for the peak season.

“The roaming nature of the event helped attendees get a real taste of the roles they would be applying for, in anticipation of potentially joining one of our brand partners, in what is the busiest time of the year.”
