Lucy Cooling has become a director of Tamworth based law firm Pickerings Solicitors.

Ms Cooling said: “I am thrilled to become a director of this thriving, regional business based from my home town and look forward to helping lead Pickerings to continued success. It is important to me to be part of an organisation that puts people first; both clients and employees. ”

Born and bred in Tamworth, Lucy joined Pickerings in 2015 from Mills & Reeve, having begun her legal training as a private client lawyer in Birmingham at SGH Martineau. Lucy has practised in private client wills, trust and probate work throughout her career. She qualified as a legal executive in 2004 and a solicitor in 2006.

The director won Birmingham Law Society's 'Legal Executive of the Year' award in 2007.

Lucy is a member of both STEP (The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners), the leading worldwide association for practitioners dealing with family and succession planning, and SFE (Solicitors for the Elderly), an organisation for lawyers who provide specialist legal advice for older and vulnerable people, their families and carers.

At Pickerings, Lucy advises on the full range of private client matters and has particular expertise in the area of trust, tax and estate planning.

Sue Hatton, manging director of Pickerings, said: “Congratulations to Lucy on her appointment as a director and business owner - it is well-deserved!

“She is a consummate, hard-working professional who has proven to be a valuable addition to our team in recent years. The directors look forward to working with her in the years ahead. ”
