Disability scheme launches networking event
Solihull-based Disability Confident is creating a movement of change, encouraging employers to improve how they recruit, retain and develop people with disabilities, beginning with a free brunch event.
Taking place at Cranmore Park Conference, Event & Exhibition Venue in Solihull on Wednesday 22 March, the event will be a great networking opportunity where attendees can get valuable insights on how to make their workforce more inclusive whilst improving productivity.
The event will run from 11am to 1:30pm.
Employers such as Balfour Beatty Vinci and Arden Hotel will share their experiences working with employees with disabilities.
Arden Hotel is a great example of how partnering with the Council can lead to positive outcomes for the business and residents with further needs.
Their first success story was a resident with autism. Although she had never had paid employment, she was detail-oriented and would be able to perform well in a structured role.
After understanding her circumstances, Roy Nash, hotel manager at Arden Hotel identified that a housekeeping role would be a suitable option. After a work trial, she was offered employment and her standard of work has been pleasingly high.
A testimonial from Arden Hotel stated: “It has been our absolute pleasure to work with Sarah and Syed on helping individuals into work. The Arden Hotel has employed some truly inspiring and fundamental team members through SMBC. ”
