Don 't miss out on Games opportunities, firms told
Businesses across Greater Birmingham must start thinking about the 2022 Commonwealth Games now if they want to capitalise on the economic opportunities provided by the sporting showpiece.
That 's the view of Chamber patron Doug Wright (pictured) who says firms must start planning now if they haven 't already done so, with just over a year to go until the Games.
McDonald 's franchisee Mr Wright, who also serves as a Deputy Lieutenant for the West Midlands, is urging businesses and individuals to sign up for Games updates to ensure they are among the first to learn about commercial contracts, jobs and volunteering opportunities.
Birmingham 2022 has its own dedicated newsletter which provides updates on Games developments - click here to subscribe.
The Games are taking place in Birmingham between Thursday 28 July and Monday 8 August.
Mr Wright said: “Clearly the economic benefits of the 2022 Commonwealth Games to the city and the wider region are significant.
“The easiest way to get involved is to sign up to their newsletter using this link. This will ensure that you are updated about contracts, jobs and volunteering opportunities to make the most of the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that the Games will bring to our region. We have a chance to create a Games with real legacy. ”
The Chamber is hosting a series of opportunities and activities next week as part of Commonwealth Opportunities Week.
This includes a session on how businesses can make the most of the Commonwealth Games, with Birmingham 2022 chief executive Ian Reid joining the panel.
The Winning At Games Time event on Monday 22 February also features Glasgow Chamber of Commerce chief executive Stuart Patrick, who will discuss how the Scottish city benefited from hosting the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
