Edgbaston school welcome new headteacher
An award-winning school in Edgbaston has appointed a new headteacher to build on the school’s existing strengths and reputation.
Priory School, Edgbaston, has appointed Barry Doherty as headteacher.
He took up the post at the start of the academic year, following the retirement of Jonathan Cramb after 17 years at the helm.
Born and raised in Acocks Green, Mr Doherty has led schools across the country as well as working in The Gambia.
The leadership change comes on the back of Priory School’s best GCSE and A level results in its history.
The school has also recently achieved the British Council’s International School Award and the School Games Gold Mark Award.
Mr Doherty said: “I am delighted to have joined the Priory School community and its committed staff body, and I am excited to build on the school’s existing reputation and strengths.
“My focus will be on broadening the curriculum and further strengthening academic excellence.
“Priory School is already a very special place to be, and I look forward to writing the next chapter one that honours the school’s history, traditions and founding principles, while ensuring it continues to adapt to the times in which we live.”
