Edgbaston Stadium celebrates success as inaugural host venue of Regional Investment Summit
Edgbaston Stadium, home to Warwickshire County Cricket Club, has marked a major milestone for its conference venue business by hosting the UK’s first Regional Investment Summit - the Government’s annual Investment Summit, held regionally for the first time this month.
The one-day summit, designed to focus on unlocking investment into the UK’s cities, towns and industries, was co-hosted by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves, the Secretary of State for Business and Trade, Jonathan Reynolds, and the Mayor of the West Midlands, Richard Parker.
Throughout the day, over 12 talks and breakout sessions were held by guest speakers such as, Tom Wagner, CEO of Knighthead Capital and co-partner of Birmingham Phoenix, Rt Hon Heidi Alexander, MP, Secretary of State for Transport and Rt Hon Lisa Nandy MP, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, amongst a range of other senior business leaders, international investors, and policymakers.
Hosted in conjunction with the West Midlands Growth Company, the office for investment, and the West Midlands Combined Authority, the Regional Investment Summit was the first political event of its kind for Edgbaston Stadium, and saw the venue play host to almost 450 delegates on the day.
Recently ranked in the Top 50 Meeting Venues in Europe by Venue Directory, the stadium remains the only sporting-venue in the Midlands to be listed, and was selected by Cvent as it offered a dedicated project team, including direct leaders across sales, planning, facilities, security, catering and operations.
“We look forward to building from this and growing our reputation as a world-leading venue of choice.”
